Why I Started UnpreppedDad — And Why UnpreppedAF Was Born
UnpreppedDad started as something simple and honest: me trying to navigate fatherhood without pretending I had a manual or some secret advantage. I wasn’t the guy with all the answers. I wasn’t the picture-perfect dad you see in commercials. I was learning, struggling, improving, failing, winning, and doing it all in real time—just like every other dad out there.
That’s why the brand was created.
To represent the real side of being a dad.
The unfiltered, unpolished, un-prepped parts nobody talks about, but all of us live through.
But as UnpreppedDad grew, something unexpected happened:
The message started resonating far beyond dads.
Moms connected with it.
People without kids connected with it.
Anyone balancing work, life, chaos, responsibilities, growth, and trying to be their best self—even on days they felt totally unprepared—connected with it.
I realized the lifestyle behind UnpreppedDad wasn’t just a “dad thing.”
It was a human thing.
That’s where UnpreppedAF comes in.
I’m not changing the brand. I’m not replacing UnpreppedDad.
I’m adding to it—expanding it—building out the community it naturally created.
UnpreppedAF is the umbrella that represents all of us:
